Ingredient Spotlight: The Pomegranate
Native from Iran to the Himalayas before becoming cultivated throughout the whole Mediterranean, the neat, rounded shrub we know as the pomegranate is a powerhouse ingredient for maintaining youthful, healthy and glowing skin. While the juicy-sweet, ruby-like seeds inside the thick, protective outer layer make a tasty and healthy snack, they also pack a serious punch of anti-aging ingredients when applied topically to the skin. The pomegranate seed’s vitamin C-rich content targets dull, dead skin cells and gently sloughs them away to provide skin with a natural glow and radiance. Vitamin C is also known for its ability to gradually lighten the look of hyperpigmentation as a result of sun exposure, melasma and acne scarring for a more even-looking, youthful skin tone. Packed with an incredible dose of antioxidants like proanthocyanidins and flavonoids, the oil sourced from pomegranate seeds can help delay signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots. Antioxidants work by neutralizing the damaging effects of free radicals, pollutants and environmental stressors. These potent antioxidants also help combat acne by soothing inflammation and calming angry red spots. We formulated our USDA-certified organic Nourish Facial Oil with Pomegranate to be intensely hydrating and boost the skin’s defenses against environmental stressors. An expert blend of pomegranate seed oil, evening primrose oil, sunflower and olive oils work harmoniously to drench skin in plumping moisture, essential fatty acids, vitamins and nutrients to leave even the driest complexions looking rejuvenated, refreshed, and renewed.
Take a Look Inside our New Citrus & Neroli Formula
We just made a good thing even better. Introducing a new and improved, silicone-free formula of our Conditioner for Normal Hair with Citrus & Neroli, a brilliantly refreshing way to bring balance to the hair and scalp. Produced from the blossom of the bitter orange tree, neroli flower oil maintains shine by helping to smooth the hair shaft to repair and prevent split ends that cause frizz and breakage. Its calming, relaxing scent brings a spa-like experience to every shower. Alongside our star ingredients coconut oil and wheat amino acids work to provide long-term hydration to moisture-binding properties from root to tip. With the ability to hold four times its weight in moisture, wheat amino acids drastically improve hair’s gloss and shine. After each use hair is left nourished, silky and manageable without feeling weighed down so you can love your hair whether it’s air-dried and natural or done-up and styled.

All you need is our Sea Mist Sea Salt Spray. It’s the mastermind behind it all and contains just four ingredients, including lavender oil to keep hair soft and hydrated. Use it to prep and set waves, increase volume, and add hold to any hairstyle. It’s as hardworking as you are. Watch and learn how to create this simple beachy look, then try it for yourself. The Secret Behind our Organic Rose Water
When it comes to beauty, it’s what’s on the inside that counts –– and inside the five-ounce tube of our indulgently rich and conditioning Hair Mask with Rose & Apricot is the magic of 8,700 organic rose petals. In order to create the concentrated rose water used in our fan-favorite hair mask, we source only the finest rose petals in the world: those from the Rose Valley in Bulgaria. Spanning seven miles wide and almost 60 miles long, this single valley produces close to half of the world’s rose oil –– about 1.8 tons. From mid-May to early-June, after the heaviest rainfall season, the bright-pink roses begin to bloom and unleash their deliciously sweet scent into the valley. The valley’s special climate and soil gives each rose its coveted aroma, longevity and potency desired by the most famous perfumeries and beauty products around the world. Rose picking begins as early as 4 AM and continues until 10 AM as the rose petals plucked later in the day have as much as 50% less rose oil concentration. Even the baskets that carry the delicate, pink petals are special: willow branches are specifically chosen as they don’t soak the dew of the petals, keeping each one fresh and supple. The precision, tradition and care put into the cultivation and harvest of the Bulgarian roses is what makes our decadent Hair Mask with Rose & Apricot such a luxurious treat for dry hair, because at John Masters Organics, we know it really is what’s on the inside that counts.

The Greens You Never Knew You Needed
Spring is in the air, Earth Day is upon us & we’ve got nature on the mind. Nature is our greatest resource for clean, authentic beauty. It’s our muse. Our guide. Its raw, organic ingredients nourish our bodies and fuel our formulas. In honor of Mother Nature and all the inspiration she provides, we’re serving up some of our products’ most powerful greens. They deliver your daily dose of the good stuff—no smoothie or juice required—to leave you looking and feeling healthy from head to toe. Spirulina This blue-green algae, found in our Firming Eye Gel, is rich in essential fatty acids to nourish skin. It’s mineral-rich nutrients also help hydrate and reduce inflammation, helping pack serious anti-aging punch. With iron, calcium, magnesium, and various vitamins, spirulina is also considered a complete protein. Get all the amino acids your body can’t produce on its own by adding some to your next meal. Horsetail As ancient as they come, this plant has been a mainstay in herbal remedies for centuries. Its claim to fame? Silica. It helps strengthen bones, nails, and hair. To tresses, it also adds shine, improves texture, and helps promote growth thanks to its selenium content. Try our Hair Mask for Normal Hair with Rose & Apricot to reap the benefits. Avocado We’ll take this fruit sliced, smashed, or spread on just about anything…including our hair. In our Lavender & Avocado Intensive Conditioner, its naturally reparative oils moisturize and revive damaged strands. But let’s not forget its other yummy facts. Its high in heart-healthy fats and contains over 20 vitamins and minerals—including more potassium than a banana. Seaweed Seaweed’s slimy appearance hides surprising beauty perks. Its ultra-hydrating, anti-aging, and anti-inflammatory powers leave the complexion glowing and fresh. Plus, its anti-bacterial properties, harnessed in our Bearberry Skin Balancing & Toning Mist, help fight acne. When added to your diet, seaweed is also an amazing source calcium, beating milk seven times over. Spearmint The gentler, milder sister of peppermint, spearmint contains the same scalp-stimulating, anti-fungal ingredient (menthol) to help boost blood and oxygen circulation to follicles. Healthy scalp—healthier, stronger hair. Find it in our Spearmint & Meadowsweet Scalp-Stimulating Shampoo, and add fresh spearmint leaves to your tea to ease digestion. The next time you’re in need of greens, get your fill from these nutrient-dense options. They smell delicious, too.
3 Ingredients that Beautify from the Inside Out
We’ve been using some of our favorite products to keep skin supple and nourished. But there’s even more beauty behind them. Their key ingredients, like pomegranate, blood orange, and white tea, work wonders inside and out. With spring in full bloom, we’re taking inspiration from these powerful nutrients to rev up our diet with nourishing, superfood strength. Read on to get to know this health-boosting trio better and simple ways to eat up the benefits. Pomegranate Facial Nourishing Oil: Pomegranate This antioxidant-rich oil has kept our complexion (and hands and feet) moisturized throughout the cold, windy season. Its key ingredient, pomegranate, is naturally high in antioxidants, hearty free-radical fighters that help protect cells from damage. More health benefits can be found in its fruit. Studies suggest that, when consumed, the antioxidants in these juicy, red giants may go way beyond that, helping to reduce inflammation and the risk of certain cancers, lowering bad cholesterol and blood pressure, and helping to boost brain activity. With impressive amounts of vitamin C and K, it’ll give your immune system a jump start, too. The seeds have extra fiber, but if you’re opting for juice, look for one without added sugar. Vitamin C Anti-Aging Face Serum: Blood Orange Thanks to this serum, our fine lines are on hiatus. The secret ingredient? Blood orange. Break one open. Its maroon-colored interior is due to high levels of anthocyanins, antioxidants that help prevent heart disease and help keep blood vessels strong. In addition to more antioxidants, blood oranges contain 40% more vitamin C than Naval oranges to help repair damaged tissue in the body and absorb iron. Eat a (medium) blood orange a day to get more than 100% of your daily dose. Rose & Aloe Hydrating Toning Mist: White Tea We stash this in our glove compartment, gym bag, desk drawer, purse…you name it…to moisturize and freshen skin on the go. Along with rose flower oil to soothe sensitive skin, it’s formulated with white tea antioxidants to nourish and protect. White tea is made from young leaves or buds so it’s less processed than other teas. Therefore, it boasts higher levels of polyphenols, potent antioxidant chemicals naturally found in plants that help protect our cells from damage, stave off cancers, heart disease, and dementia. Some studies have even linked them to long life. Skip iced or bottled versions, and sip hot tea instead for maximum benefits. Combine the trifecta for a powerful morning meal: a steaming cup of white tea, oatmeal or yogurt sprinkled with pomegranate seeds, and a side of blood orange slices. Enjoy!
